Seeing Chromeo live in Brighton a while back, after Fancy Footwork came out, was such a fun night. So I highly recommend it and now you have your chance as they’re on tour (and with Neon Indian too!). A couple of new tracks can be heard on their myspace where you can also see a list of tour dates. The new songs are Don’t Turn The Light On and a Green Label Sound single release Night By Night with a video below. (Take notes for some good moves)

This is a bit delayed but whatever….

We went to see Washed Out and Small Black play in Brighton about a month ago. Apart from the power getting cut in to Ernest’s second song it was a great gig. I thought Small Black sounded really good live and they played a new song which I’m eager to hear when that gets recorded. Then not too long after I saw Washed Out (helped out by the guys from Small Black) play live in Paris. It was outside, next to the canal, great weather and free! As it was their last performance playing together they finished their set with Wased Out’s remix of Dispicable Dogs (by Small Black) which was out on their split 7.

Washout Out – You And I

So we went to see Neon Indian live at Camp Basement in London and it was excellent. Nice to see a full band recreating the songs live (and very well) rather than some laptop twiddling. They played an excellent show and then to top it off, for the encore, they played Alan’s other stuff under the name of VEGA (myspace) which I can’t stop listening to at the moment, especially when its nice weather.

And in other news of the Neon Indian variety. There is a new video for Sleep Paralysist.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The video for Here We Go Magic‘s – ‘Collector‘ off the new album ‘Pigeons‘, directed by Nat Livingston Johnson and shot on the JVC Videomovie camera from 1984.

This guy Jordan Bee did something similar with an old video-camera to film one of Toro y Moi’s early shows around 6 months ago. Check it out.

We received another beautifully shot video from the guys at Extraneous Noise. This time of Neon Indian at Great Scott in Allston, MA playing the track ‘Should have taken acid with you’ as I’m sure you all know it’s off the debut LP Psychic Chasms.

Neon Indian know how to do it live; electronic music brought to life through analogue synths, live instrumentation, a full band and awesome sweatshirts (plus I didn’t see a laptop!)

Check out the rest of Extraneous Noise‘s video catalogue here for more brilliant bands playing in the Boston area.

Side note: If you’re in Boston and want a decent Guinness and to watch Arsenal go to Emmet’s, it was winner!

Pivot - O Soundtrack My Heart

The awesome Australian trio, Pivot, had their release O Soundtrack My Heart out on Warp in august last year. I loved it. I’ve still not had the pleasure of seeing them live. But they have some live dates coming up at Bestival and another at White Heat in London. I think I might have to get on that. Especially as Warp are saying….

“As they put the finishing touches to their new album due to be released in early 2010, Pivot return to Europe for a handful of live dates including their first tour of the USA. The band have been hard at work in the studio in Sydney over recent months and will certainly be airing some new material at their shows.”

Can’t wait.

Firstly I’d just like to say sorry for not writing anything up here for a while. Thanks for anyone checking it out and we’ll try and keep you a bit more updated with regular posts. We’ve both been working way too much. However, last night, we didn’t work…. We went to see an unbelievably amazing live show by GRIZZLY BEAR! It was so good. So good.                        Sooo good.

It was at the Koko in Camden, London. For those of you who haven’t been to a gig there. Do. It’s a sweet venue. (Actually… Deerhunter, Health and Crystal Antlers are playing there on the 24th of August. So that’s a pretty good excuse to go down there. We saw Deerhunter at Concorde2 in Brighton recently and it was really good.)

If you’ve not heard Grizzly Bear you can check them out here

You know that feeling when you’re at a gig, and at the time you think to yourself, ‘this is the best gig I have ever been to’. (Just me?) Well…. that happened. But I’m still thinking it now. Really was truly amazing. If they’re playing anywhere near you then I suggest you buy tickets before it sells out. I stupidly didn’t buy tickets to their live show coming up on October 31st at the Barbican where they are playing with the London Symphony Orchestra. (If anyone has tickets that you want to sell to me… please get in touch!!)

The sound was great. The set list was great. They opened with Southern Point (from Veckatimest) and then completely rinsed out songs like Colorado, Knife, Lullabye, While You Wait For The Others, Fine For Now and Two Weeks. Sounded so meaty and toight. At one point I thought they might be going on in to a cover of Jump by Van Halen. (Unfrotunately not…. but they should.).  I’ll stop going on about it and show you some photos.
